At the beginning of our Invention Stories Unit, we introduced the students to invention stories that had been categorized into groups based on big ideas about inventions. Students were assigned a group, then got to select and research about a specific invention. Students shared their research findings with the rest of their group and used the information to determine big ideas that connected each member's inventions. They were then given the challenge to use just one sheet of poster paper to present their invention findings and big idea to the class. Unfortunately, we lost some class time due to Veteran's Day and classes' field trips, so many projects didn't get completed. However, we have still learned so much through the process and through the students' presentations. Here are the projects:
