On the field trip, you were asked to choose one disciplinarian role (blue cards) to view the museum through a different perspective. Submit a detailed paragraph about some of the observations you made as a geologist, marine biologist, anthropologist, astrophysicist, botanist, or ecologist. What kinds of exhibits or programs at the museum would've been related to your discipline? Which would have been interesting to your discipline? Why? How would you have answered some of the questions on your disciplinarian card? (click on the card to enlarge it)

I was an astrophysicist. I saw planet earth and some thing that was found in space. I even saw, in the earthquake area, a veiw of earth from space.

The planets showed lots of details. I wonder why the planets move like thay do. I learnedthat planets have differentgravity levels

I was a anthropologist. What I did was go to the area where there was human culture. There was a monkey named Lucy and what she did was going step by step and becoming more of a human each time. An anthropologist studies a humans life. I liked that idea because I like to study history.

I was a Geologist and something that I saw that was connected to the Geologist is the earthquake section of the museum. There was a earthquake simulator and you got to go inside and experience an earthquake from, I think 1908. Then, when you get off the simulator, it showed you how you can earthquake proof your house.

On the GATE Feild Trip, I acted as an Anthropologist. An Anthropologist is the study of humanity. They are interested in traditions and cultures. At the California Academy of Sciences, there was an exhibit where it showed the African cultural life and traditions. The Najavo tribe had jewelry which affected the way they dressed. If any Najavo Indians weren't wearing any jewelry, they would feel bare and empty. Their jewelry means a lot to their lifestyle.

I'm a geologist. I love to study anything about the earth. My favorite part about the museum was the earthquakes area. It was my favorite because it showed me how there are different ways that earthquakes happen. My favorite part was when you went into a fake house and it shook like a real earthquake. Also, they told you about the 2 biggest earthquakes that had happened in San Francisco.

I was an Anthropologist and i studied about humans and their cultral life. I know that humans have changed over time because of their actions that lived throughout the early times of human life. I also know that throughout time, humans have changed as well such as their behavior, actions, and how to make things work. That's why human cultral life continues today.

The things that I saw was the core inside the Earth. Then, we went into a Earth quake simulater it talked about the two diffrent earthquakes that happend in San Fransisco, then we experieced the earthquak inside a simulater.

I am a ecologist. I saw that we use kelp to make ice cream and toothpaste. This relates to humans. Also, some causes of carbon dioxide (CO2) is by humans. It gets in oceans and creates acidity. This relates CO2 to humans and to each other. We need to help save the Earth.

I'm a marine biologist. I saw catfish that went over our heds. When we went to the room Befor that. We found som frosen fish in jars. We also found algy. We also found sting rays.

I was an Astrophysicist. In the earthquake simulator it talked about how an earthquake happens. It showed a video of Earth and space. There was also a planetarium but we couldn't go into it. There were also pictures of all the planets.

Botanist- On the living roof all the plants were able to get natural sunlight and they are all outside. The plants in the rainforest thrive because they are familiar with the forest looking dome. And the structure was really like a rainforest.

Botanist- At the rainforest, there was so many things I learned. The trees and plants have thornes because there was something growing on it like a fruit. It does this because it doesn't want animals to take the fruit. Because they don't have sunlight they use bright lights. The lights don't damage the plants though, because it is just about the righ amount of light.

I was a Astrophysicist. When we went in the earthquake simulater before we went in the room where it shook us. There was a video about earth, and how it changed over time and it showed some parts of outter space. It was pretty cool. There was a space thing but we were not able to go into there. It was still really fun.

I learned a way to tell apart a comet and an astroid. I can tell them apart because astroids are rock (because they are made of rocks) and comets are cool (because they have ice). Some scientists think that long ago earth was all broken with all the obgects going into it, but in those obgects was water and life. So then it became the earth we know today.

I was an ecoligist so I cared about the living things and their surroundings. So when I went into the rainforest all the birds and butterflys needed the trees and water. Of course all the fish need the water to survive. Some reptiles are like fish and they need the water. But other reptiles need the land, the trees, so they can hunt. Other reptiles need both land and water. That's most of the living things that count on their surroundings.

At the Academy of Sciences, my job was an ecologist. My job would most likely enjoy the rainforest exhibit. This exhibit talked about the different kind of environment a specific animal needs. For example, the butterflies from Asia needed a warm/hot humid air. If not the butterflies might not be able to survive. The hot air also helped the trees grow. These trees grew sharp little thorns to keep themselves safe if they were living in the harsh wild environment.

If I were a marine biologist then I would want to explore the aquariums like the California coast. I would look or explore these things since they are related to marine animals. And a marine biologist studies marine life and try to see how they live, grow, eat. They also see how they reproduce and how they interact with other life. So that is what I would do if I were a marine biologist.

I saw and touched some fish and starfish and sea urchins. I like how the penguins swam up to the glass and also we saw a catfish and a shark. Also I saw amphibians in jars.

A marine biologist would look for certain types of fish and certain species of marine animals. Other things they would look for are how the animals act. Marine biologists study how marine animals eat and they also study how water helps the animals live. They might also help the animals. Marine biologists studie marine wildlife and help marine animals
